Recently, Simon Dunmore, the founder of the legendary House music label, announced his final departure as CEO of the renowned Defected Records and Glitterbox labels.

The news was revealed last week on Simon’s instagram social account, where the British DJ commented : «Few get the privilege of working on incredible music, with inspirational artists and dedicated staff…there are far too many to mention but I thank each and every one of them

«My intuition has guided me well and I have decided that for the company to continue it’s progressive journey that it needs a new approach, fresh energy».

Dunmore’s words led to a collective thank you response from the entire music industry. They expressed their gratitude for all that he had accomplished and for all that he had contributed to House music.

After 23 years at the helm, Simon Dunmore is leaving the ship. Remaining the label Defected Records in charge of his great friend and former manager Wez Saunders, who has been Simon’s right hand man for the last eight years.

Simon will remain with the company as a consultant to the A&R team. It is important to Simon that there is continuum. Maintaining the company structure, keeping Defected’s focus on quality music and events.
